In Late November 2016, Dr Raymond Sheh of the Intelligent Robots Group traveled to the Japan Atomic Energy Agency’s Naraha Robot Test Facility in Fukushima prefecture, to present work being performed in collaboration with NIST on the development of standard test methods for response robots and associated events. As part of this, Dr Sheh presented Mr Shinji Kawatsuma of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency with a mobile, collapsible implementation of the prototyping NIST aerial robotics test method apparatus. This variant of the apparatus, developed at Curtin University, makes it easier for operators to test and train themselves to tackle these challenging environments.
