The Intelligent Robots Group is leading the development of the Open Academic Robot Kit and the RoboCup Rescue Rapidly Manufactured Robot League (formerly the Confined Space Challenge), two initiatives designed to bring the research challenges of the response robotics domain within reach of high schools, undergraduate students and the wider “hacker” and “maker” communities.
As part of this, Dr Raymond Sheh traveled to Leipzig to administer the international RoboCupRescue Rapidly Manufactured Robot League demonstration competition, held in Leipzig, Germany, as part of the International RoboCup World Championships.
Dr Raymond Sheh and the five teams that competed in the RoboCupRescue Rapidly Manufactured Robot League.
The event was a great success, with five teams competing over three days. We were able to test out the competition rules and infrastructure and gathered statistically significant performance data on these robots. We also had great success with the Open Academic Robot Kit, with many variations on the Emu Mini 2 appearing. Click on the image above for the report!
